HETZNER ONLINE OPENS NEW CERTIFIED COLOCATION CENTER IN NUREMBERG

Nürnberg – 20. October 2016
The web hoster and data center operator Hetzner Online is now offering rack space in its brand new certified Colocation Center in Nuremberg.
In addition to leasing web hosting and server products from Hetzner Online, customers can place their own server hardware in one of Germany‘s most energy efficient data center parks. The most modern IT infrastructure is now available to clients at Hetzner Online‘s signature affordable prices.
Due to high demand for its products, the web hoster has built a second unit at their data center park on Sigmundstraße 135 in Nuremberg, which is now operational. As with its other data center parks, Hetzner Online has built this unit to the highest standards. Both the power supply and climate control systems are redundant to prevent any possible downtime. The new Colocation Center naturally includes early smoke detection equipment, comprehensive video monitoring, and a strict entry control system. Moreover, the data center’s infrastructure as well as its day to day operations have attained ISO 27001 certification, which verifies that Hetzner Online’s security measures are properly implemented and maintained.
The colocation space now on offer in the new unit includes 1/3 racks at a monthly price of € 100 (plus a € 100 one-time setup fee) and 19 inch racks with up to 47 rack height units for € 167.23 (plus a € 167.23 one time setup fee). The racks use two to four UPS circuits for each rack, with each UPS circuit capable of handling a ten ampere load, and all of the circuits are comprised of redundant A/B feeds.
Colocation clients will benefit from the uninterrupted power supply, the fast Internet connection, the security measures (which now include DDoS protection), and on-site, round the clock customer support. Personal transponder security keys add an extra layer of security to colocation facilities, while allowing colocation clients to access their hardware 24/7.
The hardware in colocation racks are kept at a cool temperature thanks to Hetzner Online’s direct free cooling system. In contrast to cooling systems at other colocation facilities, this method uses air taken directly from outside the data center to cool the machines (free cooling). If the weather becomes warmer outside, the system automatically switches to a mixture of outside air and air cooled using compressors. Approximately 98% of the time, the system operates in free cooling mode, allowing Hetzner Online to use less electricity. Not only does this help the environment, it also allows Hetzner Online to pass its energy savings on to its customers in the form of lower prices. This cooling process has gained much praise for Hetzner Online, including the GreenIT Best Practice Award, which was presented in Berlin by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology.
The 1/3 Rack, as well as the Rack Advanced are integrated into cold aisle containment facilities, therefore completely preventing contact between warm and cool air. Cold aisle containment inhibits thermal looping and reduces energy consumption. Cold air travels through a very high raised-access floor in the container’s enclosed aisles; then it passes through the racks, cooling them, and finally the warm air travels outside the containers into the warm air sections of the data center.
Energy prices are based entirely on clients’ individual use. For customers who require a very large amount of colocation resources, Hetzner Online also offers larger colocation spaces in the form of cages.
Choosing colocation services includes several clear advantages: companies can divert money that they would usually use for IT infrastructure to their core business goals. It is difficult to be much more centrally located in Europe than Nuremberg, which is also a huge advantage to potential colocation clients. It means that their hardware and competent IT support personnel are always close at hand.
